ToastMasters

A Brief History

Toastmaster History

The role of Toastmaster has evolved from Masters of Ceremony – very often the Head Butler in stately homes who would manage the wine cellar and announce guests. The first recorded reference to a Toastmaster was to Richard ‘Beau’ Nash in Bath some 300 years ago.

In the late 19th century William Knightsmith, a pre-eminent Toastmaster, adopted the now-famous red coat to distinguish himself from ordinary house staff.

Your Men in Red Toastmasters have followed in those footsteps, having been trained over two years to understand event protocols and traditions.
