Congratulations on your engagement!

Such an exciting time! I remember well my own ‘Wedfest’ in 2015, and how the months of preparation were as much part of the experience as the day itself.

Perhaps you are planning something a bit more formal than our wedding (we larked about a lot, to be honest). Maybe you want the ‘traditional’ elements such as a greeting line, processing the couple into the wedding meal or introducing the speakers. And, even without such formalities, my experience tells me that;

  1. There will be a hundred-and-one small details – both to plan for and to coordinate on the day, and;
  2. Without someone to help you with that plan, and someone to manage its execution, you’re more likely to come unstuck.

Without professional support – whether it be your event planner, the venue’s ‘master of ceremony’ or a Toastmaster – one of the family often ends up running around on the day, and the couple fret endlessly over “did someone sort that”?” questions.

You can do no harm in talking to someone with this kind of experience, even if you don’t engage them.

I wish you the very best for your wedding and I hope it becomes the ‘Best Day Ever’ in your household as it did in ours…

The wedding industry  – is it inclusive? Discuss.

I recently watched a TikTok from a somewhat frustrated bride-to-be who just happened to be marrying another woman. Nothing out of the ordinary, you might think but her experiences hinted that the wedding industry hasn’t necessarily stopped to reflect how it deals with...
